The best coffee shop in Tagbilaran? Review of Figaro Coffee, Bohol, Philippines

Mr Lars and I discovered a new coffee shop in Tagbilaran

Mr. Lars and I recently stayed at RedDoorz Jaz Hotel in Tagbilaran, a pleasant budget option with a convenient location. However, they don't offer breakfast. We recalled that Bo's Coffee Shop near the cathedral used to be a good choice, but it has since closed, leaving a gap for centrally located coffee shops serving breakfast. Fortunately, we discovered Figaro Coffee practically around the corner from Jaz Hotel, which has become our new go-to for a convenient breakfast.

Figaro Coffee

Figaro Coffee in Tagbilaran, Bohol is located at 37 C. Putong St and is open daily with slightly varying hours (typically 8 AM - 8 PM, but check their Facebook). They offer a variety of coffee drinks, pastries, and all-day meals including Filipino favorites and sandwiches. Reviews often praise their coffee and some meals, though some inconsistencies have been mentioned.

The “Wieliczka” Salt Mine | The Tourist Route | Kraków | Poland

There were amazing salt sculptures in the Wieliczka Salt Mine
There were amazing salt sculptures in the Wieliczka Salt Mine

I visited the amazing Wieliczka Salt Mine in Krakow

The Wieliczka Salt Mine, near Krakow, Poland, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's one of the world's oldest salt mines, operating continuously from the 13th century until 1996. Today, it's a popular tourist attraction, showcasing stunning underground chambers, intricate salt carvings, and centuries of mining history.

While the Wieliczka Salt Mine is a fascinating historical site, it's important to consider your energy levels, especially if you've the same day done the emotionally demanding Auschwitz-Birkenau tour as I did. Combining these two tours in one day can be quite tiring and may not allow for the full impact of each experience. So I wouldn't recommend doing that.

The incredible Christmas Seafood Buffet at Stockholm Fisk

Eating a non traditional Christmas buffet with seafood. Of course there are pickled herring, different kinds of salmon and other fish related Christmas delicacies. But the main thing is the seafood. Shrimps, crabs, oysters among many other delicacies. If you like something different I can totally recommend the Christmas Seafood Buffet at Stockholm Fisk.

Last years 2023 Swedish Christmas Buffet at IKEA, a nice and price worthy alternative!

IKEA's traditional Swedish Christmas buffet, or Julbord, features classic dishes like meatballs, ham, herring, salmon, cheeses, breads, and desserts. It's a festive feast perfect for the holiday season.

So here me and MR Lars eating the traditional Swedish Christmas Buffet at the largest Ikea store in Sweden, in Kungens Kurva Stockholm.

Highlights of Anda Bohol | The mysterious and haunted island Lamanok | Philippines

I visited the mysterious and haunted island Lamanok

One of the highlights of my trip to Anda was the Lamanok Island Mystic Tour Experience. Exploring the island's intricate cave system, I was captivated by tales of ancient witches, shamans, and the mysterious rock paintings that adorn the walls.

Lamanok Island, dubbed Bohol's cradle of civilization, is known for its rich history and mystical caves. This uninhabited island features limestone cliffs, hidden waterfalls, white-sand beaches, and ancient burial sites. Local folklore and the presence of balete trees add to the island's mysterious atmosphere.

It's certainly worth a visit to go here!

We visited the Cata-al World War II Museum, which is an interesting museum up in Valencia. Worth a visit?

The Cata-al World War II Museum, located in Valencia, Negros Oriental, Philippines, is a private collection housed in the home of Felix Cata-al, a passionate collector and WWII enthusiast. The museum boasts an impressive array of over 400 artifacts, including weapons, uniforms, medals, and personal belongings from both the Japanese and American sides of the war. Visitors can explore the museum's extensive collection, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the Philippines' role in World War II.

So was it worth a visit? If you have the slightest interests of WWII or militaria in general, then yes I can recommend a visit there!
