Life begins where WIFI is weak

Review of San Rival Bistro (Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Philippines)

One of the best... or worst?

Yeah that's the question, see the last paragraph and decide for yourself. Anyway Sans Rival Bistro is beautifully located on Rizal Boulevard, Dumaguete’s Bay Walk. The bistro has a nice patio overlooking the sea where you see the Siquijor Island in the distant. When I was there the staff was nice and service minded, the available WiFi was very good and the comfort room was clean. But they charged 20 PHP per hour if you connected your computer to the electrical outlet.

San Rival Bistro is a popular place here in Dumaguete

The ambience is nice

The sizzling steak was delicious

They served a wide variety of dishes mostly western style but with a nice touch of Filipino taste. I can recommend the Sizzling Steak, deliciously flavoured beef tenderloin or the Sizzling Squid Sisig a creamier and healthier version of the Filipino favourite Pork Sisig. They also offered breakfast western style with for example fresh bread basket with butter which always is appreciated when you have a taste for bread, like me. Furthermore they had lot’s of mouth watering pastries which you add to your cafe latte. The pic to the right: Cafe latte and coconut cheesecake.

But then we had the issues...

They were very strict regarding the breakfast. The other day when I tried to order breakfast at 10.06 AM, it was not possible. I was 6 minutes too late! The day after, I decided to be in time for the breakfast! I came there 9.44 AM but unfortunatetly there were no vacant seat for me in the patio. So I asked for a table inside but they informed me it was closed. I had to wait until 10.00 AM when they would open, but then on the other hand it would be too late for the breakfast! Hellooooo what's happening here? Do they want any customers or what? I quickly realised after trying to negotiate about the problem, that this became too complicated for the staff to process. So instead I went to Bo's coffee shop, where you can order breakfast all day long if you like. After this incident I decided to change my rating for the Service from 5 to 1 until they update their customer policy!

Rating: 1-5 where 1 is terrible and 5 is excellent
5 Food
1 Service
5 Value
5 Atmosphere
I was here several times in January 2017
